How We Fact-Check: Editorial Policy

Apexline is an independent fan site covering Formula 1 and US motorsport for American fans. This page explains where our facts come from, how we check them and what we do when we get something wrong.

Where our facts come from

Every result, point total, standing, session time and rule we publish is checked against the official source before it goes live:

  • Formula 1: formula1.com results, standings and session times, and the FIA Sporting Regulations and stewards’ decisions on fia.com.
  • NASCAR, IndyCar, WEC and MotoGP: nascar.com, indycar.com, fiawec.com and motogp.com.
  • News reports are only used to describe what happened during a race. We never use them for points, results or rules.

Tables of results and standings link to the official page they came from, so you can check the numbers yourself.

How we handle times

Race and session times are converted from the official schedule into Eastern, Central and Pacific time, and we note the switch between daylight saving and standard time when it affects a race weekend.

What we will not publish

  • Invented quotes, rumored results or numbers we could not verify. If something is unconfirmed, we say so or leave it out.
  • Copyrighted team or F1 photos. We use openly licensed images (for example Wikimedia Commons) and credit the photographer under each image.

Corrections

When a result changes after a penalty or appeal, or when we make a mistake, we update the article, change the “Last updated” date and add an update note at the top that explains what changed. Spotted an error? Tell us on our contact page.
