What time are the two races on Nov. 8?
Two of the biggest races of the fall land on the same Sunday. Here is how the day lines up in U.S. time zones.
| Race | Eastern | Central | Pacific | Where to watch |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| F1 São Paulo Grand Prix, 71 laps | 12:00 p.m. | 11:00 a.m. | 9:00 a.m. | Apple TV |
| NASCAR Cup Series Championship Race, Homestead-Miami (267 laps) | 3:00 p.m. | 2:00 p.m. | 12:00 p.m. | Check your local listings or nascar.com |
F1 times come from the official Formula 1 event page (race at 17:00 UTC); the U.S. conversions are ours, using standard time after daylight saving ended on November 1. The NASCAR start time, track, laps and distance come from the 2026 Cup Series schedule on nascar.com. For the TV channel, check your local listings or nascar.com. For F1 streaming, see our guide to watching F1 in the US.
Will the two races overlap?
Almost certainly not. An F1 race ends when either the scheduled distance is complete or two hours have passed since the start, whichever comes first. The limit can stretch to three hours in total if the race is suspended (FIA 2026 Sporting Regulations, Article B2.5.3). A typical 2026 race takes about 1 hour 35 minutes: the U.S. Grand Prix lasted 1:35:16.650. So São Paulo should finish by about 1:40 to 2:00 p.m. ET, an hour or more before NASCAR starts.
The only way the two clash is a long red-flag delay in Brazil. That is rare, and our guide to how long an F1 race lasts explains why.
What is at stake in the F1 race?
The drivers’ title is already settled: Kimi Antonelli clinched it in Mexico City and is the youngest champion in F1 history, on 380 points to Max Verstappen’s 261. São Paulo is now about the fight for second, where Verstappen, Lewis Hamilton and George Russell are separated by 11 points, and the constructors’ race, which Mercedes leads by 126 over Ferrari. Interlagos is 4.309 km (about 2.7 miles) per lap, and the race is 71 laps, or 305.879 km (about 190 miles), according to Formula 1. It is a standard weekend with no sprint: qualifying is Saturday, Nov. 7, at 1 p.m. ET.
What is the NASCAR championship race?

The NASCAR Cup Series championship race is on Sunday, Nov. 8, at Homestead-Miami Speedway. It runs 267 laps, or 400.5 miles, according to nascar.com. That is more than twice the roughly 190 miles of an F1 race. If you follow stock cars, our guide to short tracks vs. superspeedways explains why track type changes the racing, and our Phoenix recap shows how a final restart can decide a race.
How should you watch both?
- Morning to early afternoon (ET): F1 from São Paulo, starting at noon. It is the easier live watch on the East Coast; on the West Coast it starts at 9 a.m.
- Break window: the F1 podium and post-race coverage fill the time before NASCAR if the race runs about 1 hour 35 minutes.
- Mid-afternoon: NASCAR from Homestead-Miami at 3 p.m. ET. Check your local listings or nascar.com for the channel.
- If you can only pick one: choose F1 for the title math and NASCAR for the championship moment, then catch the other on replay.
