Status reflects the most recent line-up report we reviewed, from late September 2026. Teams can announce changes at any time, so check the official team channels for updates.
How to read the status labels
The word “confirmed” in this guide means a team or the series has made the seat official, or the reports we reviewed describe a signed contract that the team has acknowledged. “Reported” means a credible outlet says the deal is done, but the team has not announced it. “Expected” means an extension is described as likely, with no signature reported. Treat only the first label as final.

Seats that are not official yet
Haas has the only genuinely open seat. The team announced its split with Esteban Ocon a few days after the Baku round. Oliver Bearman is expected to stay for another year, and Rafael Camara has been linked to the second car. Nothing is official.
At Racing Bulls, Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad are both expected to be retained. The extensions have not been announced. At Mercedes, Kimi Antonelli is understood to be signed for 2027, but the team has not made an announcement. Antonelli leads the drivers’ standings, so the news is widely expected. Our title guide for November covers how his championship could be decided.

Who is signed the longest
Lando Norris and Max Verstappen have the longest deals, both running to 2030. Norris signed his extension in August 2026. Oscar Piastri, Carlos Sainz and Pierre Gasly are signed to 2028. Lewis Hamilton, George Russell, Isack Hadjar, both Audi drivers and both Cadillac drivers are signed through 2027. That group makes the 2027 season the next point where several contracts expire at once.

Why the 2027 grid matters now
Contract news is usually quiet until a title is decided. This year it is moving earlier. Antonelli leads Russell by 102 points with six races left, and Mercedes lead the constructors’ standings with 578 points to Ferrari’s 444. Teams that expect a strong 2027 want to lock in drivers before the season ends, and drivers want the leverage that a good run of results gives them.
The calendar adds pressure. Six races remain, and the closing run includes Austin, Mexico City, Brazil, Las Vegas, Qatar and Abu Dhabi. Our F1 standings page tracks the points, and the points system guide explains how a title is won.
New teams and long deals
Audi and Cadillac both race in 2026 and keep their drivers into 2027. Audi has Nico Hülkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto. Cadillac has Sergio Pérez and Valtteri Bottas. Both new teams chose experience for the second year. Our Cadillac F1 team guide covers the American team in detail.
Ferrari have both drivers settled, but on different timelines. Charles Leclerc has been extended beyond 2027, while Lewis Hamilton’s contract runs to the end of 2027. That makes Hamilton’s future one of the first questions of the next contract cycle.

What to watch next
Three announcements would complete the picture. Haas needs to name its second driver. Racing Bulls need to make the Lawson and Lindblad extensions official. Mercedes need to confirm Antonelli. Haas is one of two American-registered teams, so its choice matters to US fans. See our guide to F1 races in the US for the three American rounds this year.
